Prediabetes has real cut offs in Malaysia, not guesswork

If someone told you your sugar is “borderline,” here is the trusted part. In Malaysia, prediabetes is defined with clear numbers, so you do not have to rely on vibes or symptoms.

How Prediabetes Is Defined
According to Ministry of Health guidance, prediabetes can be flagged when any one of the following falls in the prediabetes range:

Fasting glucose 6.1 to 6.9 mmol per L
Two hour OGTT 7.8 to 11.0 mmol per L
HbA1c 5.6 to 6.2 percent

You do not need to meet all three criteria. One is enough, which is why fasting glucose may appear normal while OGTT or HbA1c tells a different story.

What to Do Next
The next step is not panic. It is clarity. Confirm results when appropriate, look at trends over time, and review the full metabolic picture including waist measurements, blood pressure, lipids, sleep quality, and stress load.
